On September 16, 2026, the Pinglu Canal was officially opened to navigation. As China’s first canal that has been planned and coordinated at the national level since 1949, it serves as a backbone project of the New International Land-Sea Trade Corridor in western China. “鱼儿也有回家的路？”全长134.2公里的平陆运河，沿线经过多处生物栖息地，平陆运河建成通航，它们现在过得怎样？科摩罗籍青年那西姆漫步平陆运河后发现，鱼儿竟然有专属的洄游鱼道，海里的红树林穿着“防护服”，毛白貌美大长腿的白鹭数也数不完，一条路将一片海分隔让中华白海豚拥有安心畅游的海湾……这条与万物共生的运河，让那西姆直呼“Oh My God”。
“Do fish also have their way home?” The 134.2-kilometer Pinglu Canal flows through many wildlife habitats along its route. Now that it is built and open to navigation, how are these neighbors doing? Strolling along the Pinglu Canal, Nassim, a young man from Comoros, discovered that fish actually have their own dedicated fishway for migration; that the mangroves in the sea wear “protective suits”; that the white-feathered, graceful, long-legged egrets are too many to count; and that a single road has set aside a stretch of sea, giving the Chinese white dolphins a bay in which to swim free of care… This canal, living in harmony with all creatures, made Nassim exclaim, “Oh My God!”
